About us - Meri and Carrie

The short of it...

MC Designs LLC, named for two sisters, Meri and Carrie. Mississippi born and raised, they combined their talents and visions to make jewelry for everyday people and lifestyles. Through countless hours of hard work and determination, they have created a jewelry business to inspire confidence in the wearer with beautiful and unique fashion jewelry for any outfit and occasion.

GROWING UP…

Carrie and I are 16 months apart, me (Meri) being the older sibling along with our brother William who is 5 years older. We as sisters didn’t exactly get along growing up and know we drove our parents crazy. Despite all this, we spent much time together especially on weekend trips to our dad’s camp which started out with a tent until he built his camp house. Both of our parents were hands on type people, my dad being in construction and could build anything and my mom as a home economist could make anything from good home cooking to making our Sunday dresses for church.

SO HOW DID WE START OUR BUSINESS… from country club to the countryside and beyond

One day my oldest son, Hayes was playing at a golf tournament at a prestigious country club and we saw a lady selling really nice but pricey jewelry. Carrie said, “We can do that! But we can make it affordable for everybody for everyday.” We got busy and started ordering supplies, and traveling back and forth from Madison to Como, a two and a half hour trip to each of our homes. Our living rooms and kitchen tables became our design studio and conference room for planning and developing our jewelry business from building our jewelry boards, designing our business cards and making necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. We loved going to arts and craft festivals, so we signed up for different ones in the area. We named our business Two Feathers originally but today is known as MC Designs LLC.

WHY DID WE START THIS BUSINESS…

For one, we have become very close and she is now my best friend! Second, she wanted to help me because I have three boys and she knew I was struggling financially. I have been able to help with the bills, buy things the boys needed, and travel more. I thank God for her everyday. I am not saying this has been easy or there hasn’t been some disagreements. We both have different personalities and talents. Carrie has a great eye for design and fashion and has been in sales most of her life. I on the other hand, I am a landscape designer and artist. For now, we still work our other jobs but we are working to grow this business and ready to see what the future holds.
